For Immediate Release
Iowa Bicycle Coalition
Three new Interns have recently joined the team at Iowa Bicycle Coalition to assist with the development of three upcoming IBC events. Jamie, Charlotte, and Chi will be working alongside the IBC team to assist with the marketing, recruitment, and logistics of The Iowa Bicycle Summit, The Iowa Bike Expo, and the RAGBRAI Route Announcement Party. These annual events will all be held in Des Moines in January 2015. IBC’s Executive Director Mark Wyatt explained, “I could not be more excited to have Jamie, Charlotte, and Chi on board. Each intern has a background that is individually unique and has something new and exciting to bring to the table.”
A little more about our three interns:
Jamie Isherwood is a local, raised right here in the Iowa City area. You may have seen her at World Of Bikes here in town or at the many Iowa cyclocross races over the past few years. She’s also a triathlete junkie, not very good at it but loves it none-the-less. She enjoys everything bike related especially just riding. If she’s not at work, you’ll find her training for one of the many upcoming races on the calendar, kickboxing at Farrell’s, studying and consuming excessive amounts of coffee, or spending time with her rapidly growing-up, ten-year-old daughter. Luckily her daughter is into cycling as well. Jamie has often been referred to as the “Crazy Cat Lady” by her friends because she has three cats and likely has more pictures of them on her iPhone than of her own daughter. She’s also referred to as “Thumbs”, mainly at the bike shop, as she’s been known to fit a stubborn tire or two, onto the rim with the power behind her mighty thumbs. Jamie is very excited about acquiring experience and working with the IBC and looks forward to becoming more involved in the cycling community throughout Iowa.
Charlotte Quant is another local Iowan who hails from Ames, IA. She made the wiser decision of moving to Iowa City and attending the University of Iowa, and is currently a senior studying Marketing. Charlotte is a self-proclaimed adrenaline enthusiast and loves to do all things outdoors. She recently spent the past semester studying abroad in Rome, Italy and has plans to return and live there in the future. In addition to school and work, Charlotte loves to stay active and is currently training for a Triathlon after running the Chicago Marathon last year. Charlotte can’t wait to kick things off with the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and couldn’t be more excited to help further develop these three awesome events.
Xiuqi Wang is from the northeast part of China, came to America three years ago. She is a senior marketing and finance major, currently involved in the University of Iowa. Xiuqi is a self-motivated person loving to take new challenges and keep moving forward. Coming from a collectivist culture, Xiuqi is a people person and enjoy working in the team. She love to try new things and embrace different cultures. Xiuqi is more than excited about joining Iowa Bicycle Coalition and working with great team for the upcoming events.
